歯科検診 - Dental checkup

At Lea's house

２歳児歯科検診、相変わらず12:45〜2:00pmという中途半端な指定時間内に、これまた最寄り駅が一つもない不便な場所にある保健所までいってきた。

以前、東京新聞に連載を持っていた作家も書いていたが、今の親たちは共働きが多いのだし、この専業主婦当たり前時代から何も見直されていない時間帯、実施場所はないだろうと健康診断／歯科検診／予防接種の度に思う。

虫歯なし、磨き残しなしは良かった。でも、歯科衛生士と歯医者に入れ替わり立ち代わり無理矢理口の中を押し開けられたがために、やっと最近少しずつ歯磨きを嫌がらずできるようになってきていたのに、後戻り。なんだか歯科検診も善し悪しだ。

不機嫌なまま幼なじみリア、リアママ、リアばあばとアカホンにいき、すっかりご機嫌も治り、昼寝スキップしたせいで眠いくせに８時までリアの家でねばり、帰りの抱っこで即入眠した。

私を「かあか」と呼び、リアママは「ママ」、旦那を「とうしゃん」と呼び、リアパパは「パパ」。しかも、いつもリアのお家を出る時一緒に出てリアがパパのお店にいくのに便乗することを日課にし出した息子は、リアの家を出る時に「パパ」といってリアママの手を取る。私の手は後から。

子供って本当、不思議。で、面白い。

やっぱりフルタイムじゃなくてパートの仕事にして、子育て半分、稼ぎ半分の生活をしたいなーと思うなー

Koki had his 2nd dental checkup.  

Every time Koki has a checkup, it makes me wonder why it is always middle of the day and at middle of nowhere which must make it difficult for working parents to get to.  It seems to me that officials have not changed the schedule from the old days when many moms stayed home and watched their children.  Something for them to reconsider.

Koki has no cavities and we seem to be doing pretty well at his brushing teeth.  Though that is good news, total strangers taking turns trying to open his mouth scared him and once again turn his back on enjoying the brushing.  Thanks for that, Toru and I spent so many months trying so many different tricks on him to like the brushing, but now we need to start all over again (I hope not...).

So much for dental checkup.

We met up with my friend, her baby Lea and grandma and went to buy baby wipes and etc.  For sure Koki was sleepy by 7pm or so since he skipped his nap but he stayed at their house till 8.  Once we left their house and he was in my arm, right away he fell asleep.

It is funny how Koki calls me "kaka"(abbreviation of "okasan", mother in Japanese, funny how it means poo in English) and his dad "toshan", then calls Lea's mom "mama" and her dad "papa".  He doesn't  yet realize "mama" and "okasan", "papa" and "otosan" are mean the same. This reminds me how my cousins called my mom "mama" and their own moms "okasan" or "okasama".

Koki is starting to pick up so many new words, lately if he hears a word he copies it right away.  And when he is with his friends, it is funny to listen to their conversation, it almost sounds like they are  actually conversing, sometimes it accidentally makes sense and it makes us adults laugh.  

I should anyhow balance my time with Koki and working. Too good to miss.
