禁句?taboo but true?
We just came back from an otorhinolaryngologistan (ear, nose, throat doctor).
Hiroto has been suffering from runny nose ever since he started daycare.
It goes away over the weekend, comes back again after his daycare resumes on Monday.
I try to take him to get his nose sucked as much as I can, but his nose get clogged up right after he gets his nose sucked. Really bad.
Yesterday, his right eye got infected from it and took him to an eye doctor. He got an eye drop to kill the bad germ. This morning, he got a syrup to easen his runny nose. But the most important thing is to get rid of the runny nose as much as we can, so I ordered an electric nose aspirator on Amazon.
Hopefully he will be better over the Golden Week which starts tomorrow.
I was told by the owner of the international school that she prefers not to support my daycare application for Hiroto now that I am not a full time. This really irritated me since she is the one who cut down on my schedule, not me.
I almost told her all the reasons she should be ashamed she said this but I know how she is, so instead of making myself more irritated by going against her, I withdrew from this whole nonsense and then emotionally moved on. I will not quit right away but eventually if my schedule fills up with other work, they will be the first to cut (hopefully sometime this year).
Luckily Jack, who I work for on freelance basis, will help me get the right paper work for the application. I am crossing my fingers that this will not change the mind of the ward office people who make decision about daycare entry.
But, worst case scenario, if they kick Hiroto out of his daycare, so be it. There is nothing I can do. I will just quit the international school and work from home for Jack plus few others I currently help including the translation projects and a new investment company guy who asked me to come back sometime after GW.
I know it is a taboo and not politically correct for me to say this, but I just don't trust women business owners any more. I had no good experience working for them regardless of their age group or nationality.
Once I am done with the current Canadian business owner at international school, I will be done with it all for rest of my life. I just had enough about women business owners not being able to see the big picture, their tendency of micro managing things and most of all, changing rules and decisions around their emotions.
I know you will tell me, "oh it depends, it depends on a woman, not a gender thing, it's a personality thing", but no, I am not going to give that consideration or chance any more. Believe me, I tried that in the past so many times being a woman myself. Call me a racist. I have had enough of it.
On a separate occasion, a translation project flew in (from a woman sales rep working for a small publishing company; she seems to manage herself around her emotions well but she is not an OWNER. She works for a company).
Anyway, we are so looking forward to GW. Almost a week away from everything, except for next Monday and Friday which are regular day. We are planning to BBQ with Toru's high school friends on the 4th and maybe go to the beach if there is a hot sunny day. Otherwise, we plan to stay around Tokyo, kick back and relax.
Enjoy your weekend! (and GW if you are in Japan)

半フルモード、in a semi-full mode
I'm at a new cafe in my neighbourhood enjoying a latte after a long half day at the international school and running an errand for them in Shirokane.
Whew, this is golden, time to let hair down for a while, releasing myself from all the must dos.
Hiroto barely went to the daycare last week due to fever and coughs, runny nose. He had no time to get adjusted, refusing formula milk every time he went. Hopefully he will adjust soon.
My job schedule settled with 2 days a week at international school, 1 day at an inestment company (private equity) and anothet day wfh, altogether 4 days a week.
This schedule sits in better for me than 3 consecutive days at office 9-5 plus wfh.
I dont intend to go full time mode until Hiroto enters into elementary school, in 6 years. Until then, if I have to keep jaggling between jobs, I will.
Whatever makes me and my family happy:-)
I should go now, get bk to reality, stop by at a fish shop to pickup dinner receipe and at a bakery for tomorrow breakfast, then pickup Hiroto, then Koki from English class

仕事とかいろいろ, daycare, job and me
I ended up turning down a job offer which came to me a few
weeks ago after an interview with a French woman who ran
an ecommerce business here in Tokyo.
Everything except for location did not match my criteria but
since the woman seemed very nice plus I was feeling a bit
in haste to find a job, I took on the offer, but since then I
felt uneasiness about it anyhow and something did not quite
fit myself.
Hiroto started going to a daycare from this week.
Yesterday and today he only stayed for 2 hours, but I already
felt guilty about leaving him in someone else's hands.
I am simply not ready to put him in someone else's hands for
a long time every day. This is another reason I turned down the
job offer.
The daycare Hiroto goes is run by the ward office and is a
great and safe environment so I do not intend to let go of
the space we have for Hiroto. I just need more adjusting
period, at least 1 month before he goes and stay there more
than 5 hours a day. Till then I'd like to go pick him up before
his nap time.
Funny thing is just when I started feeling uneasiness, things
started turning around and someone else called me in for an
interview. This company was my first pick out of 3 other
job posts I found this time because they offered better pay
plus flexible work hours and days. The company has been
around since 1996 and the business seems stable and lucrative.
I have an interview with the president of the firm at 1pm this
Saturday.
Plus I just found out that the Japanese guy who work for an
American business owner I have been helping out for last
6 years is reducing his hours from this month, so I may need
to come in to support more (can be done from home).
I also have the international school once a week plus several
hours per week from home.
With all that, I decided to wait until at least mid May to start
another job.
I feel relieved.
Tomorrow we are going to Koki's school ceremony.
He is going to be the 1st grader at elementary school.
Congrats to Koki.
Good night.
