Christmas is over and Shiwasu

１２月に入ってローストチキンを2回、
ミートローフを１回焼き、
クリスマスパーティーは計３回したので、
クリスマス当日はフツーに夕飯を食べ、
２５日夜中にはサンタが来た様子で、
ずーっとずーっと願って来た妖怪ウォッチ零式を
もらい大喜び！
２５日夕方にはクリスマスケーキを息子と作った。

それにしても気づいたら師走！
年賀状はファイルだけ作って刷ってない。
大掃除はまあ新居ということで割愛。

掃除といえば、
お隣との境界線までのミニミニエリアに
ぐるりと玉石が敷き詰めてあるのだけど、
そこに猫ちゃんたちが臭い落とし物を
置いて行くことに困っていて、

隣の家の人はセンサーを置いたり、
ペットボトルを置いたり、
薬をまいたりして、それでもたまにやられる
と気分を害していて、

それを聞いていて、
それに振り回されるのも嫌だなーと思い、
うちはあえて玉石をどけてトイレエリアを
作ってみた。
そこからトイレでしてくれるようになって
喜んでいたのだが、
最近また他のところでするようになってしまい、涙。

猫は綺麗好きなようで、
少しでも汚れている、とか他の猫のマーキングの
臭いがしたりするとそこではしないらしい。。。

ので、掃除しやすい川砂を買って来てみた。
あとは、して欲しくないところには木酢液をまくことに。

猫は可愛いし、どうにか共存したいものだ。

I cooked 2 roasted chickens (in Japan, because Turkey
is rare, we each chicken on Christmas) and
1 meat loaf for Christmas parties we had at our
house, and we did not need any more party food,
so we had a regular meal on Christmas eve and
Christmas day.

Santa came on 25th (24th midnight?) and Koki got
a Yokai Watch (a watch toy with medals, derived from a
popular TV anime called Yokai Watch) he has been
wanting all this year.

Koki and I baked a Christmas cake on 25th afternoon
and we had it together after Toru came home from work.

Winter holiday is so fun with lots of event.
For us Japanese, it is more of a big deal on December 31st
(Omisoka) and January 1-3 (Sanganichi).
Kids get to stay up late to see the year go by on 31st,
then possibly go make a new year wish at a nearby shrine
after the midnight. On January 1st, families and relatives
get together to wish each other a happy new year.
2nd and 3rd are still regarded as Oshogatsu (new year
celebration period) and people visit each other and party
(more of family matter than friends).

I love the atmosphere of this season, especially after
Christmas is over, from Shiwasu (end of year) to beginning
of new year. Everything turns very traditional around this
season.
