Surprisingly enough, Hiroto was accepted to one of
public nursery schools in our neighborhood.
Because Koki was never accepted into a public
nursery school, we were not counting on it, but
I guess this is the difference people talk about
in age 0 entry to age 1 entry.
Hiroto will start going at his 5th month.
But now Koki's extended stay service after school
is still on hold, we must wait until end of this month
due to high volume of applicants this year.
My goodness, Japanese politicians are begging
the young couples to please have more babies, for
the population of over age of 65 is 26% of the total
population and they need more working population,
yet the situation for the young couples has not changed
past several years.
We need a drastic change in this system so that the
young couples feel confident about being able to
work even after they have babies.
I was forced to walk away from more beneficial and
challenging full time position after Koki was born
because he did not get intoa public nursery school.
Non certified daycares are very
expensive and unless you are a high incomer,
you work to pay the tuition almost.
This is the situation in current Japan.
In any case, Hiroto got in, and we are lucky,
though his nursery school is only up to age of 2
(until end of March of the year he will turn age 3).
He will stay in this school through March of 2019
and from April 2019 he will enter into a kindergarten.
This is what we decided after Koki went to a kinder-
garten past 3 years. We think our kids should go to
a kindergarten rather than a nursery
school from around age of 3 because kindergarten
offers more activities and education which is more
fun for children.
Hiroto either will get into the private kindergarten
Koki now goes (they have an extended stay service
and they prioritize kids who have older brother
or sister who went to the school in the past) or
if the extended stay is available at a public
kindergarten located inside the premise of the
elementary school Koki will enter this April, then
he may go there.
Either way, we will swim through this chaos of
daycare/ school situation in Tokyo anyhow,
just like we did with Koki:-)
Now the question is how do I give up breast feeding...
