We took Koki to an aquarium once again and to Tomica toy exhibition.
Koki did not seem to enjoy the aquarium as much as last time and was sad to find no sea turtle. We sat in to watch dolphins and a small whale perform, but Koki fell asleep in the first five minutes of the show. On our way back, we stopped by at Outback Steakhouse and had a glass of beer for each (Koki had a glass of orange juice), Toru and I shared a plate of nachos, and Koki had a kids meal with baby back ribs. Lately Koki does not enjoy eating out as much any more. The only thing he eats is french fries, no meat. At home or at his friend's (Lea) dad's bar he eats anything, but anywhere else he just won't eat. I guess I should be happy about it, better to eat at home, right?
On Sunday we took a long train trip to Makuhari where Tomica toy exhibition was taking place. Tomica is amazing about their realistic replica of trains that will run on pra-rail (train rails sold from Tomica as well).
Because Koki asks me to go through books on trains and cars, I am starting to recognize different trains by their design etc. In Japan, we call people who are overly passionate about things "otaku" and there is a word dedicated for mothers who become otaku of trains as their kids get into them, "mama tetsu" (tetsu is an abbreviation for "tetsudo" which means "iron road" a rail road) and I guess I am becoming one of them.
I am opening another door to a new otaku world....
