New kitchen gad

First rain boots and an umbrella
My ex co worker and a good friend gave me two employee sale tickets to go to.

Friday was a cosmetics and beauty company. Another friend of mine and I got to a sales venue 15 mins before it was to open and already there were 1000 people waiting ahead of us!  We left the place and did other shopping, had lunch, and still it was way before our turns, so we headed home.

Saturday, a German kitchenware company. I took Koki on a bus ride with me to the venue. 10 mins to the start and there were about a dozen people waiting, so we decided to wait. I purchased a stainless frying pan which I have been wishing to buy for a long time now, with 50% discount from its original price and a cutting board whichi is made out of a plastic that prevents food odor and chipping.
We stopped by at a baby store in a same building and bought Koki's rain boots, baby wipes, baby tooth brush  jambo pack etc. Koki was happy to ride a bus again back home.

As soon as I got home, I cooked an omlette with a new pan. Heat it well, cool it for 10 seconds on a wet cloth, heat it on a small heat, cook. This is few steps added to a regular cooking, but it sure is worth it because a stainless pan does not have any coating on it which may come off and gets into cooked food for us to consume.

Recently I watch what I buy more closely.
I am slowly moving away from a mass consumption life style to lead a simple life style.

Staying simple and focused, a step closer to enlightment.

Facebook

I neither update nor even open Facebook nowdays.

I used to be hooked when I frist started (just like anyone who just started).
Back then I only had my good friends on my list, but after a few years, especially after it became globally well known, I received so many invitations from not only friends but also acquaintances whom I don't even know that well and I confrimed too many of them (and I myself too probably made many out there confirm me too).

The reason I stopped updating Facebook was initially because there are just too many people on my Friends list whom I don't necessarily need to share my personal photos with (they are probably good people, but anyhow I feel uncomfortable that they peek on my profile, photos, etc.).

Today I found an option fo "unfriend" people from my list and viola, my list is down to one third.

This whole SNS thing I am not so crazy about, but at least I now only have friends who are really friends on my list.

Unfriend-ing someone is surely not a friendly thing to do, but after all I doubt if those I unfriend-ed would even care. Plus, I update my dos on this blog, so if you ever wonder what the heck I am doing recently, come see me here.

Boys are boys

"Good to see you, mate".

A rainy it was today. It was cold rain. Beginning of winter season.
Koki and I usually go to a bakery & cafe in neighborhood for a breakfast on Saturdays, but today we stayed home. I dripped my own coffee and we had donuts from Krispy Kreme.
Koki had a snowman donut with white chocolate coating and strawberry filling. I was waiting to finish my donut as the snowman was pretty big and I did not expect Koki to finish it all.
Unexpectedly he finished it all, and pretty quickly too shouting, "amai! (sweet)".

Yesterday friends and their baby came to pick us up at 10 am in a morning to go play at a park.  As both of the boys were coughing and with bit of runny nose, we skipped a swimming class which Kyle (their baby) goes every Friday and Koki was in for a trial lesson. We led the boys play in a park all morning and then drove to a shopping mall and had lunch together.
It was new for me to see Koki play with a boy because he usually plays with his girl friends as my mom friends all have baby girls.  He plays with lots of boys at a day care but I don't get to see them play usually.I realize at age of 2 years and 7 months, boys need to play with boys.
At age 2, boys and girls start to play differently from each others. Boys tend to be aggressive where girls tend to be gentle with toys (of course, there are lots of exceptions). Even the most tomboy girl friend Koki has, Koki always anyhow makes her cry when they play together and this can be stressful sometimes.

Well, moms are moms and kids are kids, we will find a good balance.

Its been 3 weeks since I started a new job, an assistant to an American guy who runs his consultancy business here in Tokyo.  I sit in his client's office everyday since he does not have his own office, instead he has his desk inside his client's office in Nagatacho, Tokyo.

It sometimes feels weird and somewhat lonely to sit and work within a large number of people who I do not work with or report to. Having no co-worker is certainly free of stress since I am free of politics inside a company which any mid to large organization is bound to have.

But, I can use some company if you ever come around Nagatacho or Kojimachi area around lunch time.

This is my recent dos.

ひさびさ - stoke is back!

Flat with occasional knee to thigh high set

For the first time in last 2 years or so, I surfed, with a friend of mine who runs a private surf lesson. Toru and I have been trying to get out there, but with earthquake, typhoon, and no car, we have been forced to postpone every time. Toru is into golfing more nowdays and he is planning a weekend golf trip with his friends this weekend. I am still into surfing tho I am no longer an active surfer, and every time I gave up, it accumulated within me.

I left my previous employment at beginning of this month and there were few weeks ahead before I started my next job (which started this Wed) and so I took this chance to email up my friend to take me to the beach. Though it was almost flat, I still managed to catch some waves and of course, a total stoke.

Driving back into Tokyo was very bizarre, it felt like I was flying back in after a long trip out of Japan or something. What is supposed to be a everyday scenes seemed like something different for me anyhow.

Oh how I love surfing, how wave feels beneath a surfboard I am on, how it pushes me gently as I struggle to catch and ride it...

This is called stoke. Stoke coming back once again in my life.

Halloween things

Our Halloween decoration

Halloween is getting its recognition and event-citizenship in Japan through past few years.  Just like Christmas, people in Japan tend to start decorating much earlier than US. As soon as we hear autumn wind blow and feel temperature decline, we start seeing pumpkins here and there.
I do not know how this whole Halloween craze started in Japan but it is certainly fun with colorful decorations. Koki loves it too and he will go trick or treating with his pirate costume from the sports event few weeks ago on the last date of October with his friends at a day care.
I myself bought a rainbow colored afro wig off a small shop with a big discount for it being on a display.

I am trying to think what we can do fun with Koki on Halloween.
