Mycoplasma

週明けても微熱下がらず、
咳がひどくなったので
週明け月曜午前中に息子の
かかりつけ医に行ったら
マイコプラズマウィルスが陽性。
マイコプラズマは伝染性があるので幼稚園には
いけず、３日間抗生剤が出たので飲みきり
明日またかかりつけに行く予定。

お医者様に、もっと早く連れて来てくれたら
軽めで済んだのに、と言われたが、
子どもの体調不良の見極めは本当に難しい。
高熱がすぐに上がれば分かりやすいが、
軽い咳程度から始まり、微熱程度だと
風邪かな、と家で休ませて様子を見てしまう。
特に秋冬の小児科はウィルスだらけで
下手にいくとかえって感染されたりするし。

それにしても、赤ちゃんの頃からやってないのは
ないんじゃないかというくらい息子はウィルスに
やられてきた。
そんなもんかな、と思って来たが、周りの子持ちに
話を聞くと、
ノロウィルス？ロタウィルス？かかったことないよ、
ヘルパンギーナて？、と
もしやうちの息子は免疫が弱いのか？

などといっていたら、ニュースで
エンテロウイルス68
なるものをやっていた。
アメリカで流行っているらしい。
今回の息子のマイコプラズマと症状が似ていて
怖い。身体の麻痺が熱と咳に加え出るらしい。
しかもノロウィルス同様、薬がないらしい。

それにしても、今年は新型ノロウィルスもニュース
でいっていたし、
人類はウィルスの前にはほんとーに無力。

免疫弱そうな息子が少し心配。

注射をやたら嫌がるのでインフルエンザ予防接種を
ためらっているのだけど、
マイコプラズマ治ったら受けた方がよいかな。

かれこれ先週水曜からずーっと家にいて、
具合も全然すっきりせず、わが息子ながら不憫。
苦肉の策でNetflixに入り、初回月無料無制限視聴。

Koki has been suffering from bad cough and
fever since last week and we thought it is a
regular seasonal cold since the fever does not
go up as high as that of flu,
but as the day passed by his cough became
worse and though it does not go up so high,
fever lingered, so we took him to his doctor
on Monday and it turns out he has what's called
Mycoplasma which is contagious.
His doctor scolded me for not bringing him
earlier but it was hard for us to tell it was
something much worse than a regular cold
since Koki always gets cold from throat and
it is not rare for a child to have a mild fever
for a few days.

He was given 3 days of antibiotics and medicine
to relieve his cough especially at night.
The doctor also lend us a nubilizer to help his
throat and cough.

As of today, fever subsided, but still a lingering
cough.

Just when I was relieved to see Koki show a
sign of recovery,
I heard about a virus called EV-D68 spreading
in California. This virus has same symptoms
as Mycoplasma, fever and bad cough, plus
paralysis. Scary.
I hope Koki will be over his cold tomorrow and
he can go back to school from next Monday.

Virus is really a threat to human beings as it
is a constant fight against it. Some of them
have no treatment just like this EV-D68 or
noro virus whic you cannot build immune
system against.
