Fast Fashion

仕事開始を目前にいくつか仕事着を調達すべく新宿に行ってきた。朝の開店と同時にベネトン、Ｚａｒａ、Ｆｏｒｅｖｅｒ２１、一息ついてＨ＆Ｍに行き、午後３時に戻った。買い物が苦手な私も意外とエンジョイ♪平日は空いてて◎
昨今世間を騒がせるファストファッション、すごかった、安い！特にＦｏｒｅｖｅｒ２１、全てがほとんど１０００円台。実際使えるものはあまりないけど。若い子ならいいかも。Ｈ＆ＭはＦ２１より少し高め、Ｚａｒａより少し安め、デザイン性はＺａｒａが上。
設定した２万円の予算でブラウス２枚、パンツ１枚、スカート１枚、ワンピース１枚、レギンス１枚、洸希のＴシャツと短パン１枚で千円札が数枚残った。
おそるべしファストファッション。こりゃ流行るわけだ。

今週から始まった洸希の保育園。一週間終わってみて上出来。朝の送りは少し泣くようだけど、すぐに楽しそうに遊び始め、お昼はちゃんと座って自分で食べ、お昼寝も１時間くらいしたらしい。保育士さんに順応性の高さを褒められていた。ほっと一息。
週末はたくさん遊んであげよーっと。

Lately fast fashion stores have been opening here and there in Tokyo.  It is amazing how Tokyo has almost anything from all over the world.  Today I went to Shinjuku to shop for working attires.  Shinjuk has Benetton (not fast fashion but my regular, always check), Forever 21 (LA),  H&M (Sweden), Zara (Spain) and I was surprised to find Forever 21 very cheap though if you look really close there aren't that many you'd actually go as far to pay for. 
I was able to come away with 2 blouses, one pair of black pants (a must have), a black skirt (also a must have), one pair of leggins, a dress, a T-shirt and a pair of pants for Kohki, all under my 20000 yen (about 180 US$) budget, few thousand yen left, well done.

Kohki finished his first week at a day care and he seems to be doing well.  A teacher told me that he cries a little when Toru drops him off but shortly after he soon switches to playing mode and he plays with other kids, eat luch at a table, takes a nap.  

We will play with Kohki a lot over the weekend.

California Roll

今日の夕飯は始めてのカリフォルニア・ロールを作った。海苔もアボカドも大好きだけどロールは初めて。パクパク食べて完食。この間は少し早い鰻を湯通ししてタレ抜いてからヒツマブシにして食べた。あとはフォークやスプーンが使えるようになるとかなり楽になるんだろうな。

今週に入って私がダウン。週始めに高熱に苦しみ、熱が下がったら激しい喉痛。医者に行くと、「ヘルパンギーナ」という子供がかかる夏風邪の一種とのこと。症状を見るに洸希からうつされたらしい。薬をもらったものの、喉の痛みおさまらず、ここ３日間流動食しか喉を通らず、今日になってやっとなんどか固形物も食べられるようになった。こんなに痛かったのかと身をもって知り、先週末言葉も喋らず食べ物を受けつけずヨダレを垂れ流して堪えていた我が子が不憫でしょうがなくなった。

助かったのは近所のママ友ｍｉｋｉさんが水曜日の夕方、洸希をスキップキッズに連れて行き、遊ばせ、ご飯を食べさせてくれたこと。しかも痛い喉にかき氷まで買ってきてくれて、まじ涙ちょちょぎれるかと思った。感謝感謝。

明日から洸希の慣らし保育がスタート。

最近は、公園や児童館や子育てカフェで活発な少し年上のお友達のところに遊んで欲しそうに寄っていく、どんどん活発になる洸希にとって私が相手では少し物足りなそう、だから洸希がこのタイミングで保育園スタートするのは良いのかもしれない。

昼寝の寝つきと寝起きだけちょっと寂しいだろうけど、それは夜寝とお休みの日の昼夜寝で十分カバーしてあげようと思っている。

まずは私が仕事に慣れるまで完璧にやろうと思わず、とにかくやってみようと思う。

１年半ぶりの仕事復帰、大変になるだろうとは思うけどがんばります。

Kohki had his first California roll today.  I made him mini mini rolls and he enjoyed them.  Ever since we weaned him, he started eating more and more and now he eats a lot.  Next step for him is to learn to use forks and spoons and finally a pair of chopstick.

This week I was down with a high fever and severe thore throat which is still killing me.  Last three days I have only been able to eat fluid.  I feel so pity for Kohki who had the same symptom last weekend.  Poor Kohki he couldn't talk or eat and he kept drooling.  

Kohki will start his day care from tomorrow.  We decided on a small day care about 10 minutes away from our house, no the best in our neighbor but they have good people and we trust them.  We still have our name on the waiting list for the best ones but who knows when they will have an opening.  

I think Kohki will enjoy the day care because recently he enjoys more and more to play with other kids.  Only concern is before and after a nap but I plan to make up for it at night and weekends.

I think it is important that we give our new life style a try and at the end of the day if everything seems to fall apart and nothing weems to work for us, then we call it a quit.

I am excited to get back to work and that's important. 

３連休 - down with cold

せっかくの３連休だっていうのに洸希が熱。
区民プールでうつったかな。
土曜一日様子見てよくならないので、夕方に医師会へ。
扁桃腺がはれているらしく、どうりで１日よだれがダラダラ、食事はおろか飲み物まで拒否したわけだ。
今朝は遅くまで寝て大分よくなり昼過ぎまで遊び、夕方にはお散歩にも出る。
昨日夜食事を受けつけない我が子に手作りプリンを作った。ネットで調べた電子レンジレシピは２度失敗し、ウンザリしてフライパンレシピに変更。
やっと成功し、冷やしてあげようと思ったら洸希食べず・・・母悲し。
昨日は結局牛乳とバナナを少し、あとはアクアライト（赤ちゃん版ポカリ）を飲んだだけ。今日午後になってやっと食欲が戻って、ホットケーキと昨日作ったプリンも平らげ、ほっと一息。

つくづく、健康一番！

On Friday, I took Kohki to a pool by Meguro River and in the late afternoon he came down with fever.  I led him have a hot milk and sleep but yesterday morning he still had fever, so  I took him to a doctor.  He was diagnosed "typical cold" and was given a bottle of syrup medicine. 
It must have been the pool which was full of kids and germs, I know it is inevitable.
Today his fever is down and he is doing much better.   I cooked him a cup of pudding.  I messed up twice with a microwave and changed to a fying pan and it turned out well.  Kohki enjoyed it this morning. 
I am just glad he got better.

体験＊インターナショナルスクール Kohki's debut at a pre school

前々から気になっていた家の近くの雑居ビルに入るインターナショナルスクール。出がけに一緒になると
「Look, a baby, hello baby!」
といつも声をかけられていた。この間冷やかしで入ってみたら無料体験があるということなので、今日朝９時から午後２時まで入れてみた。
朝の見送りで泣かず、その後も大きいお兄さんたちと楽しく遊び、お弁当をすべて平らげたらしく、お迎えに来た私を見つけても泣かずに余裕の笑顔で手を振った。
いやはや、我が子ながらなかなかたくましいわ。よしよし。
このスクール、インターといっても小規模で先生がアーティスト＆ダンサー（らしい）なので、かなり自由なカリキュラム。魅力は、子供がとにかく自由でのびのびなのと、みんなすごく優しく洸希の面倒をよくみてくれる。そして先生の人柄か場の雰囲気が良い。
ただ、学費はちと高いし、洸希は学校は普通に公立に通う予定なのでフルタイムであずけることはなさそう。そのうち学童保育的に週何回か使いたいと思う。

８月から前の会社に戻ることが決まって、明日から又保育園探しに奔走です。

Today Kohki spent from 9 am to 2 pm at an international pre school that is in a neighborhood.  An American guy from Pittsburgh runs the school with emphasis on performing arts and crafts, the school's got its own unique education system seperate from regular Japanese pre schools.
Surprisingly he didn't cry at all, when I saw him off, he was busy finding his favorite toys and when I picked him up, he was in a teacher's arm saying goodbye to older kids with whom Kohki loves to play with.  A teacher told me that Kohki was happy all the time and ate all of his lunch box.
I realize he has grown so much in past several months.  Last time I had him in a day care he cried seeing me leave and at the sight of me coming to pick him up and that was just a few months ago.  Or, the atmosphere that pre school carries and all the older kids who love to take care of younger children made Kohki relax and enjoy being there.

I am getting back to work from next month, first on part time basis, and I need to again look for a day care for Kohki.

初カット - the first hair cut

最近伸びてきた洸希の髪を切った、初めてのヘアカット。洸希はくせっ毛＆ねこっ毛なので適当にやってもどうにかおさまってくれた。

今月入ってからなんか体の調子が悪い。寝てもとれない倦怠感、喉の痛み、口内炎に始まり、くしゃみ、鼻水、頭痛に発展し、昨日はとうとう夜微熱。去年末に医者で「疲れ症候群」と診断されたときと同じ症状なので、特に普通に過ごしてきたけど、ここでダウンか？！
体調悪くても待ってくれないのが育児。毎日元気満点の洸希は昼寝後にも遊ばせないと夜１１時近くまで寝ない。
家の近くにSkipKidsという便利な代物があるおかげで、今月はかなり夕方からお世話になった。ここ、一度使ってしまうとやばい、ハマる。なんせ、子供の遊び場がある上に頼めばみてもくれる。そして離乳食やキッズプレートもあるし、飲みたい人にはアルコール各種、パスタやピザもある。惜しいのは和食メニューがないこと。昨日は夕方からLeaちゃんママと一緒にいってしまった。

なにはともあれ、東京は遅くまでいろいろな施設がやっていてつくづく便利だと思う。その代わり銭は出て行くので気をつけないと・・・

I gave Kohki his first hair cut today.  It was difficult since Kohki moves around so much, so I cut a little then led him play and again I cut a little, and I repeated this few times and now he has shorter bang and back hair.
Past few weeks I have not been feeling that well wtih sore throat, runny nose, and finally I had fever last night.   Since I went thru same phase end of last year, I didn't go see a doctor.  I know what he is going to tell me, "you're just very tired, rest well" and I know that this is not possible having a one year old.
There is a restaurant near my house which is sort of like Chucky Cheese in US where there's a playground for kids to play (much smaller compared to Chucky Cheese) and there's a care taker while parents eat.  Since Kohki needs to play and play and play otherwise he is up until midnight, I have been going to this place alot lately.  Yesterday I went with Lea and her mom from 5:30PM (Kohki played in a nearby park in the morning and then took a long nap) and played for couple of hours but he was up until 11 PM, scary.

Tokyo has been seeing many kids amusement places being built past several years and while this is helpful for many parents, it can run pretty costly if you don't watch your spending.

梅雨入り - rain season

梅雨っすよ、今年もこの鬱陶しい季節がきたっすよ。この季節が巡る度に本気で日本を脱出しようかと思う・・・


今朝は行き収めとばかりに公園に遊びに行ってきた。最近生活サイクルが変わりつつある洸希、昼寝は２時～４時、夜は９時過ぎまで寝ない。親は困る、特に夜。１歳は変化の年頃かしら？お友達のＬｅａちゃんもライフサイクルが変わりママは大変。ママ同士は遊ぶ気まんまんなのに、子供はどこ吹く風。子供は謎の生物だわ。

体力を日に日につけつつある洸希、こもりがちになるこれからの梅雨をどう乗り切るか、まじ悩む。児童館といっても、悲しいかな都会は狭い。他の子供もいるし一人ギャーギャー走り回らせるわけにもいかないし・・・事実、昨日いった児童館でギャーギャー走り回る姉妹２人に自分の子供を連れてきていた別母ｘ２人は冷たい視線を送っていた。それを見て、あー駄目か・・・と心の中でため息。子供なんだし、児童館なんだし、いいじゃんね、と思った私。でも洸希にさせる勇気はないけど。子育ては田舎に限るな。

あさって、千葉の姉夫婦からごっそり美味しい意トマトが届きます♪楽しみ～

Tokyo is now in rain season.  As much as I enjoy living in this country, rain season by itself is enough for me to reconsider relocating to another country.  Just a gloomy season with not much sun out.
Expecting next whole week in rain, I took Kohki to a nearby park to play.  He enjoys running outside and mingling with other kids.  Too bad it will be out and I need to come up with a solution to replace that.

My sister is going to send me a box full of fresh tomatoes this weekend.  Again, if you live around Tokyo and want fresh tomatoes, email me.

千葉野菜 - Fresh Vegetables from Chiba

今日は千葉で農業を始めた（最近水田で蓮根作りを始めた）姉夫婦と姪っ子がご近所の農家の方が作った野菜を持って上京した。夜帰って夕飯にトマトを食べてみると美味しい！！スーパーのトマトとは全然違って、味がしっかりある。これだったら洸希もすっぱい顔しないかも。もっと買えばよかったな・・・と悔やむ。

知らなかったのだけど、かぼちゃは置いておくと甘みが増すらしく、農家の人は採ってすぐは食べないらしい。私も少し置いておこっと。かぼちゃは洸希の大好物。喜ぶかな～

義兄の実家が東京のため、たまに東京に戻る時、野菜を持ってくる。下記は今回のお野菜の値段。との時により持ってくる野菜の種類も値段も違うので、興味ある方はご連絡ください（midori_frog@hotmail.com)。

My sister, brother in law and my niece came down to Tokyo with fresh vegetables grown in Chiba today.  I had a tomato tonight and how good it tasted!  Very different from ones bought off grocery stores, they taste like nothing compared to the one I had tonight.

My sister, brother in law and niece moved to Chiba few years ago.  My brother in law went to an agriculture school for a year and became a farmer.  He found a land and started growing a kind of root vegetable, lotus, which we Japanese eat.  Now it is growing, he comes down to sell veges other farmers grow time to time.

My sister told me she helps out her husband with farming and that she has become stronger which is a good thing because she can be weak sometimes.
