碑文谷八幡宮例祭、Annual Festival

今週末はうちの氏神にあたる八幡宮の例祭で昼に神輿がで、
息子も法被を着て山車に連なった。
去年3月まで保育園で一緒だった子達もいたり、
お向かいの子もいたりで地元感満載。
息子はこうやって地元の友達つくるんだろうな〜、いいな〜

途中でアメリカにいってしまった私は地元の友達
は繋がっておらず、昔からの友達は高校くらいから。
地元、という響きに羨望がある。

夜は八幡様の境内にいき、息子はりんご飴と
ウルトラマンのお面を買ってもらった。

今朝は神輿と山車がお宮に戻る、が、参列は逃した．．．寝坊。
今も近くで太鼓の音と子供の声が聞こえるけど、
息子と旦那は１階の寝室で熟睡中。

こんなテイタラクで明日は海にいけるのだろうか？

大人として祭りに参加してみると、
大人サイドの大変さに気づく。
法被を貸し出すお向かいさんも、町会を集金し祭りの饅頭を
届けてくれた班長さんもみんな赤いエプロンをして
山車に子供と一緒に連なり、
途中の休憩でコーヒー牛乳を配り、ゴミを回収し、
引換券を配り、終わったらお土産を配る。
たいへーん！
しかも休日に！

でも、順番だから私もそのうちやらなきゃいけないん
だろうなあ。それがマンションと一戸建ての違いかな、と
思う。町内会。
でも、これも大人の責任、回って来たらやらなきゃ、ね。

私ら共働き世代から男女平等にしてほしーなー、とは思うけど．．．

This weekend is the annual festival of Himonya
Hachiman Shrine who is our Ujigami, a Shinto guardian god
for our area, and Koki went to join in a parade.

We walked around the neighborhood and came back
after 1 hour and 30 mins. Kids who joined the parade
were given a can of juice and 3 pieces of sweet bread to
take home, an old fashion. Nowdays many give away
snacks and candies. I like bread better, better for kids
anyway.

Many elder women from our neighborhood assembly
called Kitamachi Assembly also joined the parade but
I could see they have been spending time to prepare
for this festival for a while now.

I can't imagine myself doing the same, but as these
ladies grow older, it is only fair that our generation
take after.

Indeed, it is a small community and it is something we
did not notice or take part in when we lived in an
apartment building.

It is a 3 day weekend here in Japan.
Since we already missed the parade going back to
the shrine (started at 9AM) and both Toru and Koki
are still sleeping,
we'll just go look for tiles to install in our kitchen maybe.

And possibly beach tomorrow!! Surf, surf, surf.
