Koki and I visited my parents in Kamakura this weekend.
Because Toru went on a golfing trip with his friends, we stayed over night in Kamakura.
I got to see my eldest sister and her husband on Saturday and my younger sister and her daughter on Sunday. It was nice sunny weekend and Koki had lots of fun playing with mud in a garden.
Not only do we live in a building but also in central Tokyo, there isn't much place for kids to play with mud or nature. When you live such life everyday, it becomes nothing uncommon, but once you are in an environment surrounded by nothing but nature (like my parents house or my friends house in Hawai'i), you realize how important it is for kids to play with nature.
Nature itself is a playground for kids and if they have such environment, they don't need TV or video games or all those toys which they play with inside the house.
I took Koki up on top of a hill (my parents house sits in a valley) to see Mountain Fuji from there in Sunday morning, but past 10 am Fuji was already surrounded by haze, we could not see. Yet, it was a nice walk through the houses I know from my childhood remembering who used to live there or who still lives there.
A nice weekend indeed.
